About Adrian
• What aspects of your project(s) interest you the most? Synthesising new precursors to create highly functional polymers, and the ease with which we can go from bench top to scanner. • What do you like about our research group? Enjoy being part of an open group atmosphere where communication and helping each other is key. • What do you do in your spare time? Anything to do with cricket, appreciate a good German Schnapps, scare myself rock climbing or getting sawdust on my clothes. • What can you do that no one else can (special skill, talent, quirk)? I was once beaten by a royal flush. • Fascinated by? The fact that we are made up of atoms of which are over 99 % empty space.
Interests involve responsive polymer hybrid materials including; polymeric biomaterials, miniemulsion (heterophase) polymerisation and polymers for drug delivery. Previous research focused on antifouling and antibacterial polymer-inorganic hybrids as well as peptide-polymer nanoparticles and nanocapsules for enzyme responsive drug delivery. Current work entails the synthesis and characterisation of hyperbranched polymers for prostate cancer targeting, imaging and site-specific drug delivery.
