The field of nanoparticle based drug delivery systems has made great strides in the past two decades. Current synthetic approaches enable excellent control over its physicochemical properties further the surface of nanoparticles can readily modified to have reactive moieties of interest for conjugating various biomolecules for targeting purpose. However, the clinical translation of nanomedicine is still challenging mainly due to the poor understanding of its biological interaction specifically with cell types that make up the mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS).
The Thurecht Group is interested in studying the effect of nanoparticle design on its in vitro performance and its complex biological interactions.
