About Vanessa
My research interests include synthetic chemistry and radiochemistry. When I'm not in the lab, you can usually find me curled under the covers with a novel, listening to music. I enjoy works by Japanese authors including Haruki Murakami, Kazuo Ishiguro and Banana Yoshimoto. I also have an occasional craving for a good craft beer, which goes best with a serving of hot chips.

Vanessa joined Kris Thurecht’s group in the CAI as a CIBIT PhD candidate in 2018. She obtained both her Master's and Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore, and went on to work as a Research Officer at the Singapore Bioimaging Consortium (SBIC, A*STAR) in the PET Chemistry Group, where she worked on fluorine-18 labelling of small molecules targeting liver cancer and pancreatic beta-cells for PET imaging. Her work at CAI will involve the investigation of novel CXCR4-targeting ligands and their pharmacokinetic properties in vitro and in vivo.
